Another day, another rude tweet from J.K. Rowling that ruins my mood. I'll start by saying that I don't know if there's an inherently ethical or unethical way to consume media. I certainly would not begrudge anyone rereading the Harry Potter books or rewatching the movies this Christmas. However, you have every right to criticize people who have written something you love, and when it comes to J.K. Rowling, there's so much to critique. A couple of years ago, everyone was making fun of her for shoehorning diversity into her already-written books where it was never there. How I wish we could go back to the days when Rowling's tweets were just cringe instead of super transphobic. J.K. Rowling's level of wealth and celebrity knows no bounds, so when she spreads misinformation about trans people online to her millions of followers, it does not come without a price. If you're a fan of Harry Potter who wants to support the series in a way that does not profit J.K. Rowling whatsoever, these Harry Potter memes are a perfect way to do so.
